Mailing and talking to the host family

After I wrote the last post, I've been pretty excited, and decided to send a mail to thank my host family for wanting to have me staying in their house and becoming a part of their family. My host mother replied and told me about how the first week was going to be (she's going to Alaska for her business establishment, and her husband is going to work. Therefore, we're going to have a lady to watch over us, and help me with the transition. After the first week, though, the routines will be back to normal, and I'll get to know my host parents better too. Since it's me, the 4 children and the lady (whose name I don't want to write online so she can feel safe with her privacy) the whole first week, I'll get to know the 5 of them better than my host parents that week. No worries, though, I'll get to know my host parents at least as well after that week has passed!

I'm leaving this Wednesday! As I said earlier, I can't wait!

I got a host family!!

I got my host family 2 days ago, and you have no idea how excited I am! I'll be leaving either Tuesday or Thursday next week! My host family lives in Boise, Idaho, and the family members are active, as they like the mountains, biking, camping and that kind of stuff.

And guess what! They have 4 children! I drew this picture of them this morning, and they are adorable!

Can't wait! I can really not wait to spend time with my host family. Maybe I can babysit the children some time too, and get to know them thoroughly! The family has a dog, which stays outside. It's a husky! My favorite breed!

I'm going to a private school, and I'm looking so much forward to start there! I have promised myself to focus on the scool work. I also am looking forward to spend time with the family, they seem so nice!

I'll blog more later! Love you!

Molde International Jazz festival

As I've told you earlier, I play the cornet in a pretty big band (about 80 members) called "Jazzlogen". That band starts its practicing in February, and has 3 gatherings where we learn new songs, without notes, and practice them thoroughly until a week in the middle of July. This year, the jazz festival is from July 16th to July 22nd.

The last week before the Jazz festival, is pretty hectic for the members in Jazzlogen, since we have so many notes to take, messages to pay attention to and songs to know. But after all, being in such a band is the most fun a music lover could do, because when the festival starts, it always feels so good to walk in the streets, play the music and see all the people watching you. I'm looking forward so badly, I can hardly wait until tomorrow, when Jazzlogen starts playing outside Alexandra Hotel in Molde.

This video is from last year's parade, I was filmed for a brief second, and it's me (the tallest one) on the starting picture.

I know I won't be able to join Jazzlogen the year I'm in the USA, but hey! I can always come back! So when I'm back in Norway, I'll join Jazzlogen and start practicing for the very next summer again.

But now I have to go, so I'll keep you updated some later time again, and thank you for reading my blog!

It's getting closer!!

It's getting closer to the day of departure now. I've had summer vacations for nearly 2 weeks now, and I still don't have a host family.

Well. Actually, a day last week, I cut my hair short. Really short. It used to be this length:
And now it is like this!

I hope I get my host family soon, walking around not knowing to where I'm going is quite exhausting. Well, not really, but I really want to talk to my host family before I go there, so I feel a bit safer around them when I arrive there!

Last part sent...

This Monday, my mother sent the last part of the application - the certificate of health. Now, EF can just start looking for a family for me. I'm so excited!

What will the family be like, how big will it be, where will it live, what is their food culture like, how is school life in USA? You could give me a thousand of answers and I would still have a thousand of questions to ask. Last summer, I went to Malta for a language trip, therefore I have some experience with EF from before.

Now, if you excuse me, I have to practice for my maths test. Wish me luck!

EF video

I just finished the video for EF's potential host families to watch to see if I'm the right student for them. This is the video that I'm talking about.

A piece of Norway in the USA

Hello there!
My name is Aleksandra and I'm going to the USA next August.

Well, this is the blog about my High school year in the USA. I'm really looking forward to it, and this is going to be the blog I have while I'm there.

"About me" will come in a post later.
